The first of Central Saint Martins (CSM) Summer Shows took place from the 17th to the 22nd of June and Post-Grad Community went to discover the final projects of the 2025 graduates.

On a hot summer day in June, Central Saint Martins’ main building was buzzing with excited students and intrigued visitors discovering all the various stands from the CSM 2025 Summer Shows. Even before entering the main building you can feel the energy and catch a glimpse of the various installations, the most imposing one being the metal spherical structure on which the screens display the work of MA Narrative Environment graduates. From there you can start to hear the various noises from the videos and performances all around.

One of the major theme this year was sustainability and many graduates came up with innovative ideas to reuse and recycle materials, create their own sustainable ones or bring awareness to environmental issues. Like Huda Ashari from MA Material Futures whose project aims to reverse the narrative around palm oil.

From the same course, Justina Alexandroff 's  project also tackles an interesting sustainability issue: "Faux Flora is an artificial flower system designed to guide pollinators toward nearby flower-rich areas. Acting as visual and olfactory beacons with no nectar reward, insects quickly learn to forage in the surrounding environment. Through artificial chemistry and biomimicry, Faux Flora explores new relationships between species, technology, and cities."

Tucked away in a darker room, we entered the colourful world of MA Character Animation where graduates Felix Cheng and Izzy Milenkovic presented their work. Felix's project Doll Searching is a three and a half minute animated film which tells the story of a young boy who wants to get a doll from the toy shop. By addressing and challenging societal gender norms, Felix hopes that their work will encourage queer artists to put their work forward and be confident about who they are .

Izzy's work is a love letter to traditional textile practices in the form of an animated documentary short film for which she interviewed five female textile artists who practice traditional crafts including: weaving, knitting, cross-stitch, embroidery and dress-making. The intention was to create a film that gave viewers the sensory experience of working with these materials, so they could almost feel they were touching the fabric themselves.
