Resort is a collective of creative professionals located in Margate, Kent. Founded 2013 their vision was to create a space that encourages experimentation and collaboration in an inspiring and professional environment. Their aim is to support practitioners at different levels of their careers, providing access to resources that can help reduce costs, generate income and enhance individual practice.

They offer a high quality programme of events and aim to foster a vibrant and dynamic community of like-minded people.

After a 90 minute bus ride to Margate the students were treated to a day full of discovery.  The students had the opportunity to visit artist studios and collectives to gain an understanding of how an artist can play an important role within a creative community in a seaside town going through regeneration and on the cusp of nostalgic reinvention.

The space they visited on the Margate walkabout tour included:

Upon returning to Resort  they were generously provided with hot pizza and drinks followed by a print workshop led by Nick Morley of Hello Print who takes up residency on the first floor of the building.  Here they were able to print their own tote bags and business cards.

Before the journey home, Resort and the Postgraduate Community team launched a collaborative project opportunity – 1 week exhibition in the space in the summer term
funded by the UAL PG Communities of Pratice Fund.
