In October 2021, the UAL Post-Grad Community team coordinated and supported Discursivity II: an exhibition showcasing the research projects of CCW’s practice-based PhD students.
Across 3 days, the public were welcomed into the Triangle Gallery to view the artwork of 11 PhD students. The second of those days was dedicated to MA Fine Art students from Chelsea and Camberwell, offering the opportunity for the exhibitors to engage in a community of like-minded artists, critically analysing and evaluating the novel ideas that their work has contributed to their respective field.
Post-Grad Community took this opportunity of engagement 1 step further.
Arash Sheikhan, a Contemporary Media Cultures student at LCC, caught up with 5 of the exhibiting artists to discuss their work, and to delve further into how their research has developed during their time at UAL. These interviews provide a small insight into the vast number of projects that goes on within UAL’s postgraduate network.
As ever, the Post-Grad Community strives to document and celebrate these creative endeavours, the individual voices, and the collaborative nature of Europe’s largest Art and Design postgraduate cohort.
Discursivity I and II was led by Dr Mo Throp (Associate Researcher, Chelsea College of Arts) and Dr Stephen Wilson (Post-Graduate Theory Coordinator at CCW), with support coming from the UAL Teaching and Learning Event Fund.
