Timna Krenn, MA Performance: Theatre Making student at Wimbledon College of Arts and Post-Grad Community Ambassador, reports back from her trip to the Prague Quadrennial.
In June of this year, the MA Performance: Theatre Making, MA Performance: Politics and Social Justice courses embarked on a journey to the beautiful capital city of Czechia to participate in the 15th edition of the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space. Showing their dedication to the environment, the students opted for a 20-hour train journey, embracing ecodramaturgy in practice.

Their project The Lively Assemble was part of the Fragments exhibition and took place at the esteemed National Gallery in Prague. It was a true collaboration between humans and non-human entities. This one-of-a-kind project brought together six students from UAL Wimbledon College of Arts and the TAAT collective, alongside an intriguing ensemble of more-than-human entities - a family of worms, the air, stones collected from Brighton beach, and plant seeds from five diverse European countries. Through immersive experiences, this project explored the interconnectedness of all beings through daily routines and small rituals, celebrating new forms of collectivity. As an avant-garde project, The Lively Assemble delves into profound queries such as: How does multi-species collaboration enhance performance practices?

The Prague Quadrennial proves to be an awe-inspiring platform for immersing oneself in the diverse works of people hailing from all corners of the globe. The captivating experience of witnessing the remarkable creations of industry professionals and fellow students has left an indelible mark on the students. The PQ serves as an invaluable space for continuous learning, unearthing novel perspectives, and forging meaningful connections with kindred spirits.
