In May, we celebrated the work of our students from the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design through 2 degree shows at Central Saint Martins and Camberwell College of Arts.

Across the year, our students have been working across Fashion and textiles, Art, Communication and Design. They experimented with new materials, explored innovative ideas and developed their own artistic voice.

These exhibitions boasted work from over 800 students, with work ranging from animation sets, to models of accessible architectural design, to costumes for performance, large-scale sculpture and photography. Attendees could watch student films, interact with products, and even buy some illustrated stickers and prints directly from students.

Here are some highlights from the diverse work on display:

  • Small clay figures in a cave, three of them play woodwind instruments as one figure with a crown and a dog looks on

Our pre-degree shows are a fantastic opportunity for students to celebrate how far they have come from their first day to the end of the course. As part of the exhibition, some students wrote letters to their younger self about the course.

Before I started, I was confused on the type of artist  I was. Thankfully through participating in this course I decided that I enjoy using textiles and want to go down a fashion route.

Don't worry too much, just be bold and try out everything!

You can explore more student work on UAL Showcase.  You can also visit a degree show to see more student work in person.
