Hi, I'm Jenny Choi. I'm from New Jersey, go to school at Parsons School of Design in New York and I joined the fashion business summer study abroad course at UAL this summer.

What are your thoughts on the Fashion Business course?

I loved my course, the teacher and the environment. It was all amazing. I found it really easy to adjust, especially coming from New York and studying here for the first time. It was daunting at first, but eventually I got acclimated to being so far from home.

The course itself was just amazing. It was a lot of work we had to do in just three weeks, but it was so rewarding at the end to see how it all played out together. I made so many new friends and connections here that I will cherish and carry with me for the rest of my life.

What was your favourite thing about studying in London?

I think my favourite thing about studying in London was just putting myself out there into a new environment and just challenging myself to soak in all the culture and the new people. I think it gives you a new type of drive, especially when you're working with people from all over the world with different backgrounds. I think that's something like I'll cherish forever.

Can you tell us more about your final project?

For my final project I decided to work on a fashion brand that already exists and figure out a way to improve their business model and how they can expand in the field. I chose Schiaparelli and created mock for their future campaigns. I decided to try and expand their ready to wear collection. So, we had to do a lot of research, a lot of data collection, analysis and insights on their social media in order to form a final project of 25 slides to show the progress and the work we made over the three weeks.

Will you be bringing some of the things you learnt here back to your home institution?

I will definitely be applying all the new information, materials and projects we worked on back to my studies at Parsons. Studying here gave us a lot of hands-on experience with professors who work in the sector making their knowledge so valuable.

Any final thoughts on this experience?

I had no expectations coming in, and I also didn't know anyone really who studied abroad prior to this. So, it was a bit of a jump in the unknown but I'm so glad I chose London. I'm so glad I chose UAL and London College of Fashion. This entire experience is something I'm going to cherish forever and won't forget. I already want to be back.

To anyone thinking about doing this experience next year, I say, do it.
