Course description

Course overview

This boot making course will start with an introduction to using a variety of industrial machines that will be used throughout the duration of the course. You will be taken through foot anatomy in relation to the size fitting system and be introduced to a choice of contemporary last and heel options to construct your boot. You will have a choice between making a men's or women's Chelsea boot, or a women's high leg zipped boot.

Once you have chosen your style, you will move onto creating a pattern, before being shown how to cut and sectionalize all the individual pieces of the patterns. The tutor will demonstrate the skills needed to identify the different upper materials and hand cutting techniques as well as explaining the many methods of shaping, forming and stitching involved in constructing a completed pair of boots.

Please note: While every effort will be made to meet your size requirements, please be aware that it may not always be possible to make the shoe in your desired size. This is a shoe making course and not a design course therefore the shoe style you make will be determined by the capabilities of the studio. We provide leather for your boots.
