Jewellery Making Stone Setting in Silver Short Course
Course description
Course overview
The Jewellery Making Stone Setting in Silver Short Course is a practical course designed to help students develop their stone setting skills.
The course offers students the opportunity to work in the jewellery studio at Central Saint Martins. Projects are designed to help students extend the jewellery making skills they have learnt on previous jewellery making courses.
Working with silver and semi-precious facetted stones, students learn how to make at least 2 settings, a tube setting and a cone setting.
Students make two rings that stack together, creating a tube setting and a cone setting for facetted stones. Depending on the level of skills and experience within the group we may move on to heat forming flush settings as well.
Who this course is for
This is an intermediate level jewellery course for anyone who has previously taken a beginners jewellery making course or an introductory level course. It would be an excellent fit for anyone looking to further their skills as well as those who want to learn how to set facetted stones. You will need to be confident working with hand tools and a small flame for soldering your metal together.
