Stone Setting In Silver Jewellery Short Course
Course description
Course overview
Gemstones have been used in jewellery for thousands of years, creating a colourful contrast to the metal in which they are set. Several different styles of stone setting will be explored in this course, using set projects to create several pieces of jewellery with cabochons and faceted cuts of semiprecious gemstones.
Working with silver and semi-precious facetted stones, you will learn how to make 3 settings, a tube setting, a cone setting and a flush setting. You will start by making two rings that stack together, creating a tube setting and a cone setting for facetted stones. You will then melt silver to make nuggets and create flush set semi-precious facetted stones.
