Course overview

Learn how to produce quick, freehand sketches of your design ideas and explore a range of different rendering techniques on this short course.

With guided demonstrations and tutorials you'll learn the fundamentals of drawing, including how to create sketch perspectives, create scale and introduce texture. Suitable for beginners and those wanting to refresh or develop their skills, this course will focus on drawing up a room or space.

You'll leave the course having completed a number of freehand drawings, along with the thinking tools to continue your freehand practice.

Who this course is for

This course is suitable for those completely new to freehand perspective drawing, or is a perfect refresher for those who have practiced before. All levels are welcome.

Materials

  • A 'black gel' or 'rollerball pen' (e.g Muji 0.5)
  • A 2H and 2B pencil
  • An eraser
  • A 30 cm ruler
  • A mobile phone with a camera to share your work in the online classroom

Further materials to buy will be discussed with your tutor on the first day, but if you have the following, bring them along:

  • 'Promarker Permanent Twin Tip' or Magic Marker pens (Range of Greys - Warm, Ice or Cool, and Sandstone/ Saffron or Gold and Pastel Blue)
  • Coloured pencils

Tutor

Gianfrancesco De Falco

Born and raised in Torre Annunziata in the south of Italy, Gianfrancesco De Falco attended his hometown Liceo Classico “Benedetto Croce”, a scientific and humanistic school that proposes Latin, Ancient Greek, Italian, History and Philosophy as principal subjects.
 
After five years of intense study, he enrolled at the University of Naples, Federico II, where he graduated in Architecture.
 
Gianfrancesco is a qualified teacher having completed a Certificate in Design and History of Arts in Higher Education, in Italy. He has also gained Qualified Teaching Status in the UK.
 
During his time at University, he focused on Product Design and the Ready Made, which he later showcased at various International exhibitions.
 
He has 25 years’ experience in Interior Architecture and Design working on international, residential projects and 15 years’ experience of teaching Interior Design.
 
He currently lives and works as an Interior Architect and Interior Design Teacher in London.
