Course overview

This short course gives you a more in depth understanding of the buying and merchandising roles involved in the fashion retail industry.

Through lectures, workshops, practical exercises and group work, you will explore aspects of the fashion buyer and merchandiser roles. You will work on analysing macro and micro research to draw up a merchandise plan and create a range plan for a specific fashion retailer.

Who this course is for

This advanced-level fashion buying course is for those who have already completed Introduction to Fashion Buying and Merchandising Short Course and Fashion Buying and Merchandising: Buying Techniques Short Course or a similar course.

The projects you'll be asked to undertake involve mathematical formulae therefore it's essential you have an understanding of maths to GCSE level C or equivalent.

Hannah Middleton

Hannah Middleton has over 20 years experience in the fashion industry, including senior buyer at department store group House of Fraser for several years. Prior to her buying career she was an account manager for Peter Golding, which involved extensive travel to Europe and the Far East. She brings this wealth of global industry experience to her teaching at LCF, where she has delivered all levels of Buying and Merchandising short-courses for the last 5 years. She also teaches on the BA(Hons) Fashion Management and the new MSC International Fashion Management. She now combines her teaching with mentoring and consulting for small and medium sized businesses, to help them improve stock control, range planning and buying processes, in Europe and the UK.
