Digital Embroidery Short Course
Course description
Course overview
This 3-day beginner's course offers students the opportunity to learn how to create digital embroidery using Wilcom software and CAD machines.
Through a combination of demonstrations and practical exercises, students gain an insight into the various techniques that can be created on the digital machine. There will be a beginning lecture introducing students to references and images from artists and designers who use digital embroidery.
During the course, students are guided through the digital software in a way that is accessible for beginners. Students will have access to various resources such as films and QR codes to support their learning.
The course covers a series of techniques such as applique, reverse applique, cut-out, puffy foam, wadding and lace work. Students will digitise their designs and stitch out various samples of the techniques taught. Depending on the time taken, students may be able to stitch a few of their designs.
Who this course is for
This course is aimed at designers/makers and entrepreneurs in creative industries who would like to learn embroidery techniques. This could apply to industries in fashion, interiors, art and film.
The course would also be a great choice for fashion students who may not have previously had the opportunity to work with specialist software. Students will build their understanding of embroidery and learn how to use software to produce and outsource.
