Fashion Drawing and Illustration for 16 to 18 Year Olds Online Short Course
Course description
Course overview
This course is designed to help students begin developing their own unique style of fashion illustration through creative exploration and inspiration from a wide range of sources. You'll be encouraged to experiment with various media, including inks, watercolour, coloured pastels, pen, and collage, learning how to express fashion ideas with confidence and individuality.
The course will cover the entire creative process: from initial inspiration and experimentation to completed designs, drawing on both men's and women's catwalk collections to understand garment design, fabric, and structure.
You'll be introduced to influential illustrators such as Stina Persson, Julie Verhoeven, David Downton, Celia Birtwell, and Erte, alongside contemporary artists like Elyse Blackshaw, Meagan Morrison, Jessica Bird, Anjelica Roselyn, and Tony Green. Students will also carry out their own research to further develop ideas.
By the end of the course, you'll have created a body of exciting illustrations that reflect your personal style. You'll also have illustrated catwalk looks that can form the foundation for a future design collection, and learn how to present your final work through mood boards, technical fashion flats and colour palettes.
