Course overview
This course will give you a chance to unlock your creativity and help you create a complete fashion sketchbook, offering a solid foundation for developing your style and work. It will show you lots of techniques that will allow you to develop new ideas for your fashion portfolio, helping you to refine your vision and grow your skills. You will be encouraged to challenge yourself on a journey to design a capsule collection that reflects your individuality and artistic growth.
The course will teach you how to source, research, and develop your fashion designs whilst being fun, exhilarating, and fully engaging with the creative process.

This course is suitable for anyone aged 18 and older. Whether you are a student who is looking to apply for further studies, someone who wishes to enhance their portfolio, or a fashion enthusiast who is hungry to unlock their creativity, you will benefit from this course.

Materials
For the first day:
- 1 x putty rubber or ordinary rubber
- 2 x A3 sketchbook (Hardback)
- 1 x roll of masking tape
- 1 x B6 graphite pencil
- 1 x progresso graphite stick
From the second session onwards:
- Daler and Rowney Acrylic paint starter set (6 tubes of 22ml)
- Conte a Paris (12 sticks of colour) sq. conte chalk
- Prit stick
- Small can of fixative
- Plastic water pot
- Plastic bag
- Plastic paint mixing palette
- Household paint brush (cheap)
- Square end brush
- Number 6 or 7 paintbrush
- Small pot of P.V.glue
- Scissors
- Stapler (optional)
- Sewing kit (of basic thread, pins and needle)
- A4 or A3 tracing paper pad
- Stabilo pencils (aqua type and thick body):
- 1 x Yellow no.200 (or any light colour)
- 1 x Red/Scarlet no. 370 (or any medium colour)
- 1 x Jade no.470 (or any medium colour)
- 1 x Blue no.425 (or any dark colour)
- (You can buy similar colours in oil pastels if you cannot find these)
Tutor
Nicole Zisman
Nicole Zisman is a London-based artist and designer addressing fractured identity and assimilation within physical and digital culture. Through her cross-disciplinary approach, her unconventional use of craft techniques and uncompromising visual narratives she challenges the notion of a fixed truth that 'seeing is knowing'. She completed her BA in Fashion Print from Central Saint Martins in 2019. Since then, her work has featured in the likes of Dazed, LOVE Magazine, SHOWstudio, The Face, Vogue Italia, Teen Vogue and Tatler. In October 2019, she presented her first solo exhibition 'So Let It Be Your Will' hosted by Centre for Sustainable Fashion and Waltham Forest, London Borough of Culture 2019. In February 2020, she presented at London Fashion Week for the first time, as part of the Positive Fashion Exhibition at 180 The Strand. Recent successes include her first award of funding from Arts Council England for her exhibition 'Tranquila, Mami' which opened at Ein Sof Gallery, London in April 2022. In addition to her own eponymous label Zisman lectures fashion design at Central Saint Martins and collaborates with the Feminist Internet and Centre for Sustainable Fashion.Evelyn Bennett
Evelyn is multi-disciplinary artist and designer and a graduate of The Royal College of Art where she studied Fashion Textiles Print. She has worked for companies such as Habitat, Esprit, Miroglio and French Connection as a Fashion and Textile designer.
She has worked as an academic and tutor at many institutions including The Royal College of Art, University of East London, ESMOD Berlin, Bauhaus University Weimar, Norwich College of Art. London South Bank University, University for the Creative Arts and CSM. She currently teaches at Chelsea College of Art.
Her collaborative practice with sculptor Chris Rutter has included costume design for Rambert Contemporary Dance and Collectress and experimental work with Needless Alley Collective. They have exhibited widely, with sculpture commissioned by Cass Sculpture Foundation and a number of Hospitals and Developers.
Her Artists Books have been shown at the Arnolfini, London Artists Bookfair and EINA Barcelona.
Her work with poetry and collage has taken her to Germany, Greece, Switzerland, Ireland, Italy, Belgium and Holland and she has undertaken artists residencies in the UK, Berlin, Cyprus, Zimbabwe, Mexico, France and Japan. Her practice has been endorsed through financial support from Arts Council England, The British Council, European Leonardo Fellowships, the McColl Arts Foundation, Cass Sculpture Foundation, the Henry Moore Foundation, Bauhaus University and University for the Creative Arts.
She has recently returned from a residency in Southern Japan and is currently working on a book on Japanese Street Style.
