Course overview
This workshop has been designed to meet the needs of those who want to learn and practise the construction of basic swimwear and soft lingerie. Tutor-led demonstrations will provide the starting point from which to practise and develop your skills and aesthetic values.
You will be provided with Size 10 pattern blocks and will be introduced to pattern manipulation and sewing techniques to create simple swimwear and lingerie designs in jersey.
Please note that this course will not cover under-wiring.
Who this course is for
This course is suitable for anyone interested in learning and practising the construction of basic swimwear and soft lingerie. Basic sewing skills are required to participate in this course.
This is a Summer School only short course running only once a year. We encourage early bookings to secure your place.

- Understand how basic lingerie and swimwear are constructed so that the design is functional and fit for purpose
- Introduction to specialist machinery for lingerie-specific construction
- Create your very own designs using the garment blocks and fabrics available
- Guided through the materials, trims and machinery with step-by-step instructions on how to sew your non-wired soft bra, how to create a simple camisole and how to sew a basic swimsuit
Please note: all lingerie and swimwear patterns will be constructed in size 34, this course does not include grading patterns to different sizes.

Jasbinder Jhumat
Jas is the Specialist Contour Technician on the BA Fashion Contour Course at the London College of Fashion. Successfully gaining a PGCert Academic Practice in Art, Design and Communication have enabled her to develop as a teacher in higher education and attain professional recognition with the Higher Education Academy (HEA) as a Fellow.
Jas started her career as a sample machinist and progressed to technical designer gaining a complete understanding of design concept to production. With nearly 30 years of lingerie experience in the industry, Jasbinder has skills and practices unique to the Contour Course that led to technical and digital expertise in this field.
