Course overview

This 5-week evening course at London College of Fashion will provide you with the skills you need to get started with pattern cutting and patternmaking.

You'll be introduced to all the key, basic techniques for womenswear pattern cutting and work from a standard size 12 template block to make a range of pattern pieces for the bodice, skirt and sleeve.

You'll discover different styles and learn about how you can alter your own patterns to create various shapes, styles and designs.

Annie Shellard

Annie Shellard has 30 years of experience working in womenswear as a designer and pattern cutter. Her current professional practise specialisms are lingerie and bridalwear. Annie’s first design job was for a small London based manufacturer and wholesaler. Due to the size and nature of the business, she became skilled in all areas of the design and production processes. This experience has underpinned her approach to working within the industry and in her own businesses. Annie first began her teaching career at London College of Fashion in 2002. She has been teaching at FE and HE levels since that time and became a member of the Higher Education Academy in 2012.
