Course description

Explore the dynamic and evolving roles of the fashion stylist across editorial, commercial and consultancy contexts with this exciting short course at London College of Fashion.

This 5-day course combines fashion theory, history and hands-on practical work to guide students in both conceptual thinking and technical skills like pinning and fittings.

During the course, students respond to diverse briefs, creating innovative and experimental work while developing essential styling techniques.

Students will have the opportunity to collaborate with a professional photographer and model to produce high-quality outcomes for their portfolios, providing a solid foundation for progression to a foundation diploma or further studies.

The course aims to provide an ideal starting point for aspiring stylists looking to refine their craft and build their creative futures. Students gain an insight into styling as a role in the fashion industry and develop their portfolios.

Course outcomes

By the end of the course students should be able to:

• Identify the roles of different stylists in the industry and which path is best suited for them
• Understand industry briefs and standards
• Create a body of work to be used in a portfolio
• Technical styling skills such as pinning and layering
• Work effectively in a team to produce a response to briefs
• Understand fashion theory and history in relation to styling
