Course overview
Style is an attitude, a fantasy, a way of living. It can dictate the rise or fall of a designer or movie star. This course provides a broad overview of the role of stylists in the fashion industry and the variety of styling assignments they undertake.
This course aims to enhance your styling skills through a variety of techniques, experiments, conversations and photo-shoots. We aim to challenge your current perception of the styling process and help you on your way to finding your own 'unique voice' in the world of styling.

Anyone interested to learn more about the styling industry and get some practice on key fashion styling and communication skills. Whether you are wondering if the role of 'Fashion Stylist' is for you, just keen to understand more about how to put a look together for yourself or you would like to add some more strings to your visual communication portfolio, Fashion Styling for Beginners is designed to give you an introduction to how a fashion stylist works.

Please note that clothes and accessories for fashion shoos will be discussed on the first day
Later in the course there will be some extras for the photo shoots.
Extra budget:
An important element of the course is the photo shoot, for which you are expected to source garments. Please allow a budget of GBP 50 to cover expenses if necessary.

Alice Wilby
Alice Wilby is an art director and stylist who has been working in sustainable fashion since 2009. With her business partner Khandiz Joni, Alice co-founded Novel Beings, the worlds first sustainable style agency; now, A Novel Approach, providing art direction and consultation for sustainable fashion, lifestyle and clean beauty brands. Prior to setting up Novel, Alice was on-line editor at Eco-Age, working on the launch of Gucci's first sustainable accessories collection. She also sits on the Global Advisory Board for Fashion Revolution and has also art directed, styled and produced their photographic campaigns.Aimee McWilliams
Aimee McWilliams is a graduate of Central Saint Martins and Associate Lecturer within the BA Fashion Design department and is also a tutor on the MA at the Royal College of Art.
