Course overview
During the Prosthetic Appliance Short Course students learn how to create a silicone flat mould and a silicone prosthetic appliance.
The course will guide students through all the equipment required, covering the safe use of chemicals and step by step instructions on the process of making a silicone flat mould and silicone prosthetic appliance. Students will also discuss the safe handling and storage of chemicals and equipment.
By the end of the course, students will have a greater understanding of the value of learning a simple mould making technique and the effect it can have on the outcome of the work. This knowledge can be applied to future projects where more complex silicone mould making and prosthetic appliance elements may be produced.

The Prosthetic Appliance Short Course is aimed at anyone who would like to develop their skills in this area. The course is also suitable for those with no previous knowledge of creating prosthetics.

Franky has been teaching at the University of the Arts London for over ten years for the BA (HON) Hair, Make-up, and Prosthetics for Performance course. Despite Franky's passion for Prosthetics, Franky also has a passion for teaching, and throughout her time at UAL she has done a "Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching" as well as an "MA in Teaching and learning in Art, Design, and Communication for teaching in Higher Education."
