Course overview
This Portfolio Preparation course will help you build a strong portfolio that showcases your creativity, skills, and dedication. You'll be introduced to the essential methods and tools needed to develop a compelling portfolio of work.
The course will focus on a different area of study each day, including drawing, collage, painting, 3D and graphics. Through hands-on experience and short tasks to deepen your learning and creative exploration.
By the end of the course, you'll have a collection of work to strengthen your portfolio, along with invaluable tips on maintaining a good working practice and preparing for college applications.
Who this course is for
- Students with an interest in art and design, including complete beginners
- Students who have recently completed a GCSE in art and design, or those studying at A or AS level
- Students aiming to apply for study art and design at foundation level
- International baccalaureate students aged between 16 and 18 who need to be better equipped to apply to a foundation course

Tutor
Rochelle Fry
Rochelle Fry is an artist and educator who lives and works in London. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Art in London where she studied sculpture, she has exhibited her work in the UK and internationally. Rochelle is a long standing member of Five Years, an artist run gallery, she curates exhibitions and coordinates collaborative projects. Rochelle has 10 years extensive experience teaching short courses at CSM including drawing and portfolio preparation. She writes bespoke courses preparing and mentoring students for successful art university applications and also teaches drawing at the Civil Engineering Department, City University, London.
Samiya Younis
Samiya Younis is an artist, researcher, curator and educator who lives and works in London. She is graduate from the Royal College of Art. Her art practice is interdisciplinary working in sculpture, painting, installation, photography, performance to name a few. She works with Community engagement groups, charities and women education organisations delivering workshops. Samiya has exhibited work in the UK and internationally. As well as teaching on short courses at Central St Martin's College of Art, portfolio preparation. Samiya mentors and prepares students for successful art university applications. Samiya has also taught students at Ruskin School of Art, UCA Farnham and Edinburgh School of Art in the Fine Art departments. She is a Lecturer on the UAL Diploma in Art, Design and Media and Fashion Applied General Diploma in Art and Design, City of Westminster College, Paddington and is a fellow of the Higher Education Institution.Book a course
