Course description

Course overview

The Life Casting Short Course is designed to introduce students to the art of life casting. Students learn how to cast different parts of the body to create their own sculpture and monumentalise themselves and others.

The course covers a wide variety of techniques starting with basic use of modroc and alginate; two materials often used in life-casting from the body. Students will then explore how to create replicas in plaster.

During the course, students will learn how to safely cast the hand and torso and see a demonstration on how to cast a head / face in plaster.

Students will be shown a series of engaging demonstrations before developing their own ideas. They will have the opportunity to work on their own projects with guidance from the tutor.
