
Costume and Set Design for 16 to 18 Year Olds Short Course
Course description
Join Costume and set design for teenagers, aged 16 to 18 years olds and step behind the scenes as you enter the magical world of film and theatre! We will waste no time in getting you experimenting and exploring with a range of materials and techniques.
Working with an enthusiastic and experienced artist, you will to translate your costume and set ideas into sketches, illustrations and small-scale models as you find out what goes on behind the scenes of theatre and screen, as you bring characters and settings, magically, to life.
Course outcomes
- You will have created a scale model supported by sketches and illustrations.
- You'll leave the course with a small body of work including costume and set designs.
- You will have gained a greater understanding of the steps involved with developing your ideas and bringing characters and their settings to life.

Materials
Onsite Short Course materials
Please bring with you:
- Magazines for inspiration (not Fashion magazines please)
- Fabric samples
If possible please bring a camera or camera phone to record the process of making work, and the outcomes. Everything needed to complete the course is provided, but please feel free to bring any current sketchbooks or materials you enjoy using.

- A3 Sketchbook
- Set of pencils
- Sharpener
- Eraser
- Roll of masking tape
- Magazines for inspiration (not Fashion magazines please)
- Fabric samples
To take part in the Online sessions you will need:
- An up-to-date web browser (we recommend Chrome)
- Microphone and headphones (a headset with a microphone function is recommended. The built-in microphone in your device would also be fine).
- Webcam
