Course description
Course overview
This lively and informative course teaches students how to communicate a visual story by developing their own photo essay or project, which they'll present and receive feedback on at the end of the course.
Through informal workshops and practical sessions, you'll have opportunities to explore the technical and creative potential of your cameras, learn to approach photography with a creative eye, discover photo essay building blocks, and gain insights into the history of photojournalism. You'll also research story ideas, analyse influential photojournalists, and discuss the realities and opportunities in photojournalism today.
Taught by a working photojournalist, you'll learn image processing using Adobe Lightroom, explore editing techniques and how to develop your visual voice. You'll learn all about developing creativity in your images and producing a photo essay.
Please note this course will take place at London College of Fashion, East Bank.

- Students aged 16 to 18 with a passion for photojournalism, including beginners

Tutor
Teri Pengilley
Since completing a postgraduate course in Photojournalism at the London College of Printing in June 2000, Teri Pengilley has worked as an editorial photographer both nationally and internationally. Her work includes five months covering Iraq after the 2003 invasion and documentary work in Sri Lanka and Indonesia following the devastating Indian Ocean tsunami. Based in London and working mostly for The Independent, The Guardian and Save the Children, Teri has had work exhibited in solo and group exhibitions. She's also been published in national and international publications including The Times, The New York Times, The Age and Vogue.Book a course
