Course description

Course overview

This three-day course invites photographers, artists, students, and anyone interested in exploring the rich potential of photography as a starting point for mixed media creations. With no previous experience required -just an open mind and enthusiasm - you'll embark on a hands-on journey to develop your personal artistic style by blending photography with a variety of creative methods. Using simple yet effective tools such as cutting, gluing, embroidery, painting, and even gold leaf, you will learn how to redefine the photographic image through creative manipulations.

This course emphasises experimentation with materials, challenging yourself with new techniques and compositions, and harnessing the power of storytelling to create intimate, unique, and visually compelling works.

The sessions will cover contextual reflections on hands-on manipulations and the use of mixed media in contemporary art and photography practices. This will include a brief overview of camera controls to help enhance your images, demonstrations of various creative processes, and opportunities for tutor and peer feedback to support the development of your work.
