Flexible approach to research and learning
You can choose to develop a written thesis or incorporate practice into your thesis.
Practical work must meet the same critical expectations of research as a contribution to knowledge.
All University of the Arts London (UAL) MPhil and PhD are members of the UAL Doctoral School. You will benefit from an extensive programme of training and development.
Application process
We would love to hear from interested applicants at any time. We review applications on a rolling basis as they are received. If you are applying for funding, you may need to apply in line with specific deadlines.
We recommend that you approach your preferred supervisor from UAL FTTI to discuss your research idea before submitting a formal application. If you are not sure who from the team could be the best fit to supervise you, email us at FTTI@arts.ac.uk to discuss your interests.
When you apply for an MPhil/PhD supervised by an UAL FTTI member, you should:
- select 'UAL FTTI' from the 'College or Institute' dropdown options in the application form
- add 'UAL FTTI' to the title of your application.
Funding
We are currently unable to offer funding through UAL FTTI. Read UAL guidance on funding opportunities.
