Attendance Monitoring
Attendance is a key contributor to successful studies and we want you to get the most out of your time at UAL. Studies show that students who engage regularly with their course are more likely to do well.
SEAtS Mobile phone app
You must self-check-in to sessions using the SEAtS Mobile phone app if you’re studying at:
- Camberwell College of Arts
- Central Saint Martins
- Chelsea College of Arts
- London College of Communication
- London College of Fashion
- Wimbledon College of Arts
- Creative Computing Institute
- UAL School of Pre-Degree Studies
Class registers
In exceptional circumstances, alternative forms of registers will be taken by your course teams and you should follow their guidance. Unless your course team has told you this, you should use the SEAtS Mobile phone app to register your attendance.
Attendance policy
Read our Attendance Policy. It covers what happens if you:
- miss sessions
- request Authorised Absences
- take time out from your studies
- have extenuating circumstances for absences that will have an impact on your assessments
- withdraw from your studies
- need attendance guidance for student visa holders.
How to check-in with the SEAtS Mobile phone app
You need to check in on your phone into learning and teaching events that your course team has told you to attend (both in-person and online).
Download the app:
Alternatively, scan the relevant QR code in the SEAtS user guide (PDF 457KB) or video, which gives full information on how to download and use the SEAtS Mobile phone app to check-in.
Once you have signed into the app, your scheduled learning and teaching events will be displayed for you to check in to.
You should check in at the start of, or just before, the session starts. If you check in 10 minutes after the start time, you'll be marked as late.
If you don’t have a smartphone or you’ve forgotten it, please don’t worry. Let your lecturer/tutor know when you attend your class, and your attendance will be manually marked.
It's your responsibility to notify your tutor or course support team if you forget or are unable to check in via the SEAtS Mobile phone app. The deadline to have your attendance updated is on the same day as the event took place. Any requests to update attendance for events that occurred on prior days will not be updated.
If you have an issue with the SEAtS Mobile phone app, then please get in touch.
