UAL Student Committees

Students can share their views and influence the decisions that affect them and future generations of students through the Student Representatives that sit on university and college committees. There are a number of different committees which include student members:

Course Committees

(Student representation: elected Course Reps)

Each course at the University has a Course Committee. The Committee monitors the operation of the course and considers issues related to academic content and course organisation. It is also a forum for students to express their views on their academic experience, including the organisation, content and delivery of the course, via their Course Reps. Course Reps are full members of the Course Committee. Course Committees report to School Boards of Studies.

Student and Dean Forums

(Student representation: Course Reps and elected School Reps)

Student and Dean Forums bring Course Reps, School Reps and the Dean of School together to discuss issues affecting their course and academic experience at School level. Student and Dean Forums are intended to enable students to raise issues at School level with their Dean and for Deans to have access to student voice on key themes or areas of interest.

Taking place in Autumn and Spring term, they are organised and facilitated by Arts SU staff and officers. Reps, Officers, and Deans are invited to share their suggestions for agenda points, and minutes and actions are recorded on Arts SU’s website.

School Boards of Studies

They are responsible for identifying academic and organisational issues that require action at the School level, and advise the College Academic Committee about School-related matters. School Reps can raise and help to address any issues affecting students across the School - 20% of members are students. Boards of Studies report to College Academic Committees.
