Payments from Sanctioned Countries

All payments to University of the Arts London must comply with international sanctions laws. You're responsible for ensuring that your arrangements to pay fees and other money to UAL do not breach these laws.

Check we can accept your payments

Deposit and tuition fee payments are made through the UAL Portal using our official payment partner Flywire. By paying through Flywire, your payment is guaranteed to be secure. When using Flywire you can pay by credit or debit card, bank transfer or e-wallet.

If you’re making a payment from a country where financial sanctions have been applied by the UK Government, United Nations and/or the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) you may be unable to make your deposit and/or tuition fee payment using Flywire.

Check these 2 websites for a list of sanctioned countries and sanctioned individuals or regimes:

We recommend making deposit and tuition fee payments from an account that can be accepted by Flywire. If you don’t have your own account, you can ask your parent or legal guardian to pay on your behalf if they are unsanctioned.

If you’re able to make your deposit and tuition fee payments via Flywire, you’ll find payment instructions on our making a payment page.

Rules around payments when you apply for a UK visa

If your parent or legal guardian is paying on your behalf and you need a visa to study in the UK, there are strict payment rules. These cover where the funds to pay your tuition fees and other study costs are located, and for how long, before you make a visa application.

Contact our Student Advice Service if you have any questions about the financial evidence you’ll need to provide if you're making a visa application.

Flywire

UAL has partnered with Flywire to provide students with an online payment platform. Their head office is in the USA, which means any payments using our portals must follow the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations. Additionally, Flywire takes a risk-based approach and prohibits payments in certain countries.

Please be aware that Flywire are unable to accept payments where:

  • the student or payee is resident in one of any of the sanctioned countries/regions
  • the payment originates from one of the sanctioned countries/regions
  • the payee is a named sanctioned individual
  • the payee is resident in a country that Flywire have deemed to be on their list of prohibited countries.

Contact Flywire

Contact Flywire using Live Chat or email. They'll be able to help with any queries, but they won't be able to go into any detail relating to the sanction rules.

Unable to use Flywire

If you (or the person paying your fees) cannot make a payment using Flywire, contact the Fee Management team.

The University must make extra checks before accepting payments made from a sanctioned country and/or a sanctioned individual or regime.

We’ll ask you to provide more information so that we can complete these specialist checks. Then you'll receive further instructions about making your payment.
