UAL Sanctuary Support Package
At UAL, we are dedicated to fostering diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunities for all students. We have launched the UAL Sanctuary Support package to help students from forced migration backgrounds access higher education.
Starting university is exciting but can also feel overwhelming, especially for those with lived experience of forced migration. To support this transition, we offer dedicated funding, holistic student support and a designated contact for sanctuary-seeking students. This ensures access to financial aid, academic guidance and pastoral care through our Student Services.
Sanctuary bursaries and scholarships
Undergraduate Sanctuary Bursary
For home students with refugee status:
We are offering 8 bursaries of £6,000 per year (excluding placement years) to support students with refugee status and a household income below £25,000. This mirrors our existing Insights Bursaries scheme.

Postgraduate Sanctuary Scholarship
For asylum seekers (international students):
We are offering 1 full scholarship worth £50,000, covering tuition fees, course costs and living expenses. This reflects UAL’s existing £50,000 postgraduate scholarships but is specifically for students seeking asylum.
