Clothworkers BA Textiles Design Bursary

The Clothworkers BA Textiles Design Bursary of £5,000 per year (£15,000 in total) is available to 3 Home students enrolled on the first year of the BA Textile Design course at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Clothworkers BA Textiles Design Bursary applicants must:

  • Be enrolled on the first year of the full-time BA Textile Design course at Central Saint Martins (CSM), UAL
  • Start in September 2024

About

Founded by Royal Charter in 1528, The Clothworkers’ Company was established to protect its members and promote the craft of cloth-finishing within the City of London. Today, the Company values its past and traditions, but finds new ways for the Company to have a useful role in today’s society through apprenticeships, education, technical skills development, funding innovative textile technology, and safe-guarding textiles heritage.

The Clothworkers’ Textile Design Bursarywas established by the Company with the purpose of offering financial assistance to talented students at Central Saint Martins (CSM) who are passionate about the future of Textile Design.

The scholarship will be assessed on the basis of financial need and academic merit. It will provide a contribution of £5,000 per annum towards living expenses and course costs for the duration of the course except the placement year.

Applicants must demonstrate an interest in focusing on textiles throughout the duration of the course.

Applicants must have a raw, original talent complimented by a strong drive to succeed in the industry.

Receiving payment

The scholarship will provide a contribution of £5,000 per annum (except the placement year) towards course costs and living expenses.

Course costs and living expenses payments will be paid in termly instalments via BACS to the award recipients.
