You should be proficient in written and spoken English and be able to participate in group discussions and make presentations. As a guideline we would expect you to have an English language level equivalent to IELTS score of 5.5 and at least 5.0 in each skill (list of language equivalencies). The Language Centre at University of the Arts London offers English courses for overseas students who wish to improve their English language skills.
Students applying for this course are expected to have a minimum GPA of 2.8 or equivalent.

This fashion business study abroad summer school programme will develop your fashion marketing, merchandising and media skills and you will benefit from our expertise, which makes us one of the foremost global fashion education establishments. We offer a unique and dynamic learning environment, within which you will develop and enhance your individual potential. Our team of specialist tutors, combine their teaching with professional consultancy and freelance work, which guarantees that you are informed of current industry practice.
Our Summer Study Abroad courses offers 20 taught hours (per week) built into the schedule, 60 taught hours in total. As a frame of reference, Study Abroad recommends between 20-30 hours in total for additional independent / self-directed study time (average 7-10 hours per week) to further develop ideas and realise project ambitions.
Each of our 3-week Summer Study Abroad courses are developed at undergraduate level 4, although they are still open to all learners. Courses may suit a creative in the early stages of their career, or individuals looking to develop new skills and processes, (delivered in taster format), as well as those wishing to build on community and networking opportunities.
Toby Meadows is a Fashion Business Consultant and the International best-selling author of ‘How to Set up & Run a Fashion Label’ currently translated into 10 different languages. He is the founder and Director of TNM Consultancy, a collective of fashion professionals providing creative and business services to the fashion industry, as well as a Director of the London based cult womenswear designer label Belle & Bunty. For the past 10 years he has been a Visiting Lecturer at the London College of Fashion, invited to host conferences on Developing a Fashion Label, Brand Communication, and the Future of Fashion as well as writing and delivering short courses for professional development within the fashion industry both in the UK and abroad. Toby is regularly invited to speak and run workshops at international Fashion Weeks and has been asked to contribute as an industry expert to media publications around the world including the Financial Times.
Stephanie Firth has worked in the fashion industry across Design, Buying, Product Development, Licensing and Sourcing for over 25 years. She has worked globally within brands and as a consultant & mentor to Start-Ups to help shape, give strategy, expand ranges and grow businesses Brand Experiences which include Jigsaw, Burberry, Firetrap, Speedo, White Stuff, Elle, Ted Baker, Kurt Geiger, Kat Maconie, A-way That Day swim. Stephanie specialises across the sector in all areas including Men’s, Women’s, multi product licensing including kids-wear, beauty, lingerie, watches, jewellery and home. Stephanie has experience with delivering lectures, and seminars to international colleagues and learners on application, trouble shooting and demystifying the fashion and creative industries.
