This London College of Fashion Study Abroad Summer School is aimed at students needing to know more about fashion business.
This eight-week summer programme at London College of Fashion introduces you to the fast-moving world of fashion business, where creativity meets strategy. You’ll explore the wide range of professional roles that contribute to building and sustaining a career in fashion today.
You might be interested in marketing, styling, content creation, communication, research, product development, fashion criticism or becoming an entrepreneur. Whatever your interest, this course gives you space to critically engage with the business of fashion from multiple perspectives. You'll build practical, transferable skills through a combination of taught sessions, group work, and individual exploration.
Our expert teaching team includes tutors with direct experience in the fashion and creative industries. Their ongoing work as consultants, researchers and freelance professionals ensures your learning is informed by current industry practice and global trends.

You should be proficient in written and spoken English and be able to participate in group discussions and make presentations. As a guideline we would expect you to have an English language level equivalent to IELTS score of 6.0.

Students applying for this course are expected to have a minimum GPA of 2.8 or equivalent.
This 8-week fashion business study abroad summer school programme is taught across various formats from lectures, group work and discussions, 1-1’s, and specialist workshops. This programmes is underpinned by Contemporary Culture and Fashion Studies, which will introduce you to a variety of London locations, cultural and iconic sites, and visits, researching exhibitions, printed matter and digital spaces. Throughout each dynamic and fast paced unit, you will immerse yourself in all things fashion business to experience a full breadth of possibilities to research and experiment with.
You will immerse yourself in visual communication to develop critical thinking skills in relation to fashion image(s) and the importance of visual literacy. Opportunities to investigate financially driven marketing strategies through a ‘business of fashion’ lens. At times, you may find yourself negotiating roles by collaborating in teams, alongside project managing, analysing trends, developing strategies, research buying cycles, trend forecasting in relation to product development, and profitability. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of the current Global luxury markets and business practice, including economic management, production, and distribution channels of a brand, to identify consumer behaviours and needs.

This course is taught by Michael Czerwinski, Eleanor Warrington and Jovanka Novkovic Davies, Toby Meadows, Lynsey Fox, Rebekah Roy and Eelko Moorer.
When you apply you will need to include a Personal Statement, recent transcript, academic letter of reference and a sample of written work.
Explain why you have chosen to Study Abroad at UAL, what you plan to get out of your Study Abroad experience and how this fits into your personal goals. Your Personal Statement should be short, around 300-500 words.

Study Abroad students receive a Record of Study 6-8 weeks after completion of their course. They will also receive a digital badge and downloadable certificate from Accredible after their Record of Study is issued. Badges can be shared in digital portfolios, used on CVs and added to social media profiles such as LinkedIn.
All courses are assessed and you'll receive a record of study at the end of the programme if you wish to request credit from your home institution.
