Carnaby Street, in partnership with London College of Fashion (LCF), UAL has awarded two graduates the opportunity of a lifetime to win a studio space in the heart of Soho.

Graduates presented their proposal to a panel of judges, who reviewed their business models and designs based on sustainability, innovation, practices, finances and quality alongside future planning for their business.

The successful tailors from the 2024 competition are LCF BA (Hons) Bespoke Tailoring alumni, Ceri Linehan and Khalil Khaliqiar, who have been awarded studio space at 26 Kingly Street, an established home to many tailors over the years, alongside access to LCF Graduate Futures business support offer and Founders Club membership. Ceri and Khalil will be able to showcase and grow their collections from the Kingly Street studio space, joining three floors of existing tailors known for making suits for rock ‘n’ roll royalty, film stars and TV personalities.

Ceri is a tailor and designer hailing from the lively streets of South East London. Raised amidst the inspiring architecture of the Thamesmead estate, Ceri's creative spirit was ignited from a young age. Drawing inspiration from her urban surroundings, Ceri crafts bespoke streetwear that's rich with personality.

From daring denim dungarees to sophisticated waxed cotton garments, her creations redefine street style. Ceri has big plans to expand her collection, with bespoke caps, pouches, aprons, and bags set to join her lineup. Ceri is also determined to revolutionise fashion with her signature 'Bentham Waistband,' ensuring a flawless fit for all body types across a range of garments. With a commitment to sustainability, Ceri breathes new life into remnant cloths, infusing each creation with eco-conscious flair.

Born in the heart of Kabul, Khalil's passion for tradition and artistry was kindled by his mother's skilled hands weaving intricate Afghan embroidery. Fuelled by this rich heritage, Khalil embarked on a journey of sartorial exploration, honing his craft here at LCF. Now, as the creative force behind DRAPERS ACCORD, Khalil showcases an array of men's knitwear, shirts, and accessories that blend traditional motifs with contemporary style.

From luxurious wool to ultra-soft cashmere, every piece is a testament to Khalil's dedication to quality and innovation and imbued with Khalil's ethos: "Take the best there is and make it better.”

Having first become a popular home to tailors during the 19th century, bespoke tailoring still thrives within the streets of Soho with Ceri and Khalil joining a number of well-known names established in the area.

We are delighted to be working with Shaftesbury Capital once again to offer our exceptional LCF graduates this opportunity. At LCF we believe that fashion shapes lives, and this initiative provides a unique springboard to talented LCF tailors to gain valuable experience in an iconic retail destination, as well as space to develop and innovate their diverse approaches to this timeless craft.
