FBS Think Tank event | London College of Fashion | UAL

Fashion Business School’s Industry Day serves as a forward-thinking platform, aiming to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world industry challenges, providing students with invaluable insights and first-hand knowledge from experienced professionals. It has been designed to excite and inspire final year students, as well as engage the broader FBS community, by creating a space for industry professionals to come together and address current issues shaping the industry.

The annual Industry Day at London College of Fashion

Zoe Hinton, Course Leader of BA (Hons) Fashion Buying and Merchandising leads the delivery of the annual Industry Day which takes place during the autumn term. The Industry Day is composed of a series of speakers in a variety of different formats, such as of keynote speeches, panel discussions, and talks, each designed to give the attendees an insight into the industry. The event is attended by leading experts, innovators, and thought leaders across the fashion industry, welcoming professionals from companies such as Alexander McQueen, Yoox Net a Porter, Think Circular, Burberry, Dressipi, Sweet Analytics, Bamboo Rose, and COS, and addressing topics such as sustainability, the use of data, digital learning, and employability.

An opportunity to ‘think big’

The Industry Day offers students the opportunity to network with industry professionals and alumni, fostering connections that allow them to expand their possibilities in preparation for their final year and subsequently their life post-graduation. Students are not only exposed to current industry trends and challenges but are also motivated to think creatively and proactively about their future roles within the industry.

Lea Cranfield had this to say about the experience:

“I always learn something when I spend time with students. I learned the importance of actually interacting with the next generation.”

Masroor Moin, a BA (Hons) Buying and Merchandising student had this to say about the event:

“I now have the confidence that the  things I am learning at school are going to be used in the  industry.”
