In summer 2024, against the backdrop of the iconic London skyline, LCF East Bank saw its first ever College Careers Fair. Still flying on the success of the first, we are excited to be planning the next – Save the date, Wednesday 4 June for the LCF Careers Fair 2025!

Hosting an impressive list of industry and brand exhibitors, the Careers Fair 2024 with LCF Graduate Futures attracted the likes of LVMH, COS, Karla Otto, DWEET, AllSaints, Kurt Geiger, Harrods, URBN, Zara and many more! The fair drew in nearly 300 students and graduates, all seeking an unparalleled opportunity to stand out to company talent teams and gain valuable advice from industry professionals about upcoming vacancies.

Connection and curiosity have always been the key features of our Fairs. The contrast between the exciting, professional nature of the event against the relaxed atmosphere offered by East Bank; proved to be an invaluable experience for soon-to-be graduates and recent graduates preparing to enter the world of work. Impressed with the engagement and preparedness of attendees, the brands exhibiting at the Fair highlighted how important it is to show of your strengths when navigating your job search.

When preparing for the Careers Fair 2025 remember that showcasing your work and skills helps potential employers and recruiters see your capabilities and style. Many industry players involved last year were able to make hiring shortlists on the day, based on how well LCF’s students and graduates presented themselves in their conversations.

It’s so great meeting with so many different students from different backgrounds! Obviously finding out what they want to get into, provide them with that experience and advice…We really love to introduce ourselves to these students, and obviously introduce our brand to them, and show what we would be able to offer them when they apply for our entry level positions. We do a lot of talent banking as well! So, if we don’t have any current vacancies, we will also take in CVs and information and contact the students when the vacancies do become live. - AllSaints

The energy in the room demonstrated the value of the relationships being built between brand exhibitors and LCF graduates, and we hope to build the same atmosphere in our future events. Everyone enjoyed chatting and exploring how the skills and talents of each individual could fit into the culture and life of the brands. Niomi March, a recent graduate from BA Creative Direction, felt the Fair provided a perfect chance to network and explore all of the possibilities open to her after graduation.

What I loved about the fair was that the exhibitors were so excited to be there in person and were super impressed with the high level of skill within LCF. It was great to just network and chat about the endless possibilities available career-wise after graduation.

The variety of opportunities available and the inclusive environment we strive to create at LCF Careers Fairs, ensures that LCF Graduate Futures can provide something for everyone. Offering this exciting space for attendees to explore their professional development is a highlight in our annual calendar. From the drop-in careers’ guidance to freelancer support activities, to networking with brands; students who attended the last Fair were able to make lasting impressions, breaking down barriers that went beyond the confines of a CV and cover letter.

The Careers Fair was a fantastic experience with a great mix of companies from various fields like retail, PR, design houses, and photography. It was exciting to see big names like LVMH, Harrods, Zara, and Kurt Geiger there. I loved that some companies were offering sponsorships, which is a big deal for international students like me. - Kanishka Chowdhury, MA Fashion Entrepreneurship and Innovation

Amidst all the lively discussions, two resounding themes emerged from the advice brand representatives offered to LCF’s future industry talent:

  • Build your network. Whether that is attending fashion shows, participating in industry events or even reaching out to people on LinkedIn, establishing a network can open the door to future opportunities.
  • Embrace Flexibility. The traditional 9-to-5 is becoming obsolete. Companies are embracing remote work, flexible hours, and project-based contracts. This means you will need to develop self-discipline and communication skills - Every moment is going to be an opportunity to learn.

Follow these insights and be ready for the LCF Careers Fair 2025! In the poignant words of DWEET, a Fashion and Luxury talent marketplace:

Some peak experiences in life can be found through pushing through really hard problems with teams of people you care about. The advantages of doing this are plentiful – momentum compounds, success leads to success, and when you find your purpose and excel at it, you can really positively impact the world. - DWEET
