Imagining Possibilities is a radical celebration hosted by Centre for Sustainable Fashion, focused on envisioning fashion’s role in creating a future where all can thrive. We seek to put aside the logic that confines us to incremental change, and to work together, through creativity, to increase possibility, awe and discovery of how we might contribute to social and cultural distinctions and connections, through fashion.

Imagining Possibilities will bring together creators, educators, students, businesses, citizens and policymakers to radically re-envision fashion as making, sharing, manifesting, communicating what it means to live well, together, in a more than human world. We invite an exploration of the way things might be, based on ideas of worlds where all can thrive and interconnect with conviviality.

Submissions

We invite current LCF students and alumni to submit proposals for hands-on workshops and activities that embody the ethos of radical interconnection, equity and care. We welcome workshop ideas that:

  • Demonstrate sustainability through fashion design, making, reuse, repair, activism and other creative endeavours
  • Explore inclusive making practices that contribute to economic empowerment
  • Highlight nature’s connections and our interdependence with ecological systems
  • Address livelihood security for fashion producers and planet
  • Prototype creative responses to climate, social and racial justice issues
  • Showcase radical teaching methods and learning experiences for fashion at any age or stage of learning
  • Co-create visions for fashion’s role in a just and sustainable future
  • Enable dialogue between educators, industry partners and policymakers on aligning learning with societal and ecological needs.

This festival celebrates diversity and demonstrates how we can relate to one another and the planet through care and creativity. We encourage proposals from all backgrounds, experience levels and creative mediums.

Submissions can be in writing, audio, or video. To submit an audio/video submission, please email Fred Kavanagh on f.kavanagh@arts.ac.uk
