The MA Fashion Marketing and Global Cultures course at London College of Fashion, UAL, is designed to draw greater awareness of the diversities of peoples, places, and practices that play a part in fashion marketing and the overall global fashion industry.

Students from this new course, which opened with this first cohort in 2023, recently worked with Mango, one of Europe’s leading fashion companies, in a live Sponsored Student Project. With its large global reach in more than 115 markets, students from MA Fashion Marketing and Global Cultures worked in groups to look at Mango’s brand through the different lenses of; International Business Development Strategy, Sustainability Strategy, Luxury Brand Management Strategy and Marketing 4.0 - Innovation and Technology Strategy.

Students analysed the brand, thinking about global cultures and exploring areas such as migration, economic activities, international relations, human geography, resulting in a report that would make recommendations shaping the present and future of the fashion industry.

Course Leader, Ruth Jacob (pictured above) said of the project, “This year our students have completed a live partner project with Mango. The students have been able to present their ideas about possible opportunities for expansion for Mango across all parts of the world, so that’s one of the things I really wanted the students to be able to come away with a greater awareness of the international scope of fashion marketing all the way across the world.”

During this Knowledge Exchange, students met with Mango’s team for regular touch points between February and May 2024, including a mid-way critique which helped students align their reports to industry needs.

For me, especially since I started living in the UK, working in UK, studying in the UK means working with people with different points of view and finding a point of interest, where you all collide, and actually find the perfect solution to a problem.

Student Georbella Fini said: “It's nice to have industry feedback from people that actually are working in the field right now. So, they can directly give you the best feedback that also is aligned with the company or the clients.”

Congratulations to students Geobella Fini, Jiazhen Xie,  Shulang Qian, Jiayao Xiang, Zilin Jiang, Sonny Dochety, who won a prize of £200 for their winning pitch.
