Earlier this year, creative practitioners from across east London were invited to apply to SEEDED, a residency programme from East Bank partners (BBC Music Studios, London College of Fashion, UAL, Sadler’s Wells East, UCL East (University College London), V&A East Storehouse and Museum). This part-time, fully funded residency enables the artist to investigate themes around social practice, activism, collective memory, urbanisation, and community engagement, and works with their host organisation to experiment and develop new practices, while pushing conventional boundaries of engaged, creative research.
LCF’s second Artist in Residence for 2024-2025 is London-born multidisciplinary artist Kookie Blu, who creates immersive visual worlds that invite audiences into her experimental realm, Planet Loudon. A Guildhall School of Music and Drama alumni, Kookie draws inspiration from her diverse upbringing to celebrate imagination and push creative boundaries.
Talking of her up-and-coming project ‘The NEURO Collective: Shaping Art Through Neurodivergent Lenses’, Kookie said:
“I am excited to host workshops, research interviews, and capture some special portraits at LCF for Neurodivergent individuals who are creative or eager to explore their creativity! We’ll dive into unique perspectives shaped by Dyslexia, ADHD, Autism, Dyspraxia, and Dyscalculia, while addressing challenges like mental health and anxiety. This journey will culminate in a short experiential film and exhibition. Can’t wait to see what unfolds!”
Are you neurodivergent and passionate about creativity? Or maybe you haven’t yet explored your creative potential? Whether you’re already expressing yourself through art or are curious about your creative abilities, join Kookie for The Neuro Collective—a series of workshops at the LCF’s East Bank campus. These 4 interactive workshops will create a supportive space for neurodivergent individuals (including those with ADHD, Dyslexia, Autism, Dyspraxia, and more) to explore their experiences, strengths, and creativity.
This is your chance to be part of a project that amplifies underrepresented voices, challenges stereotypes, and celebrates the beauty of neurodivergence. Your contributions will help create a lasting impact, showcased in an exhibition and short film that tells the stories of our community.
Join us and see the world through your lens. Let’s celebrate your unique creative abilities and transform them into art!
The workshops will be taking place on the following dates and times.
