Library
LCF's world class library and fashion archives on the second floor at East Bank offers students the opportunity to learn from fashion history and contextualise their studies. The extensive resources include 85,000 books on all aspects of the fashion industry, from garment construction to cosmetic science and over 390 print periodicals and 20,000 e-journals. The Library has a Materials Collection, which is a reference collection of both cutting edge and standard textile samples for you to browse. It also includes a wellbeing collection and a sensory corner.
Materials Collection
The LCF Materials Collection is a space within the LCF Library for students to interact with materials that can inform and inspire their work – through materials research, craft and innovation samples, sourcing information and sustainability knowledge.
LCF Archives
The LCF Archives are a teaching collection and research resource that students, staff and members of the public can use to inform and inspire their research and practice. Based on the ground floor at East Bank, the LCF Archives Learning Studio holds workshops, sessions, research appointments and regular displays. A new Archives Store is home to the eclectic collections which include materials relating to the full fashion lifecycle.

arts shop
The arts shop opens at LCF’s East Bank campus early 2025 and will be located on the mezzanine level. More information coming soon. In the meantime, students can still access the other arts shops across the UAL sites. Central Saint Martin's arts shop is a short train journey from Stratford International to St Pancreas International or from Stratford tube station to Kings Cross.
Gallery and vitrines
The impressive Gallery on the ground floor at East Bank is a flexible, open-plan area accessible to the public. The Gallery hosts LCF's Cultural Programme featuring exhibitions, artist talks, panel discussions, and student showcases. The unique display vitrines are also an opportunity to demonstrate student work.
LCF Front of House
The LCF Front of House team provide high level assistance to support the college and act as the first point of contact and provide a warm and welcoming reception service for prospective and current students, staff, and external visitors to LCF. The reception desk is open 8.30am-5.30pm Monday to Friday.
Lecture Theatre
The Lecture Theatre is a 342-seated space located on the lower ground floor. The spectacular 11m x 2.7m display allows for a range of creative presenting opportunities and the darker presentation mode also allows for less energy consumption.
Seminar Rooms and Tutorial Spaces
LCF has a variety of study spaces, including seminar rooms and tutorial spaces, where students can make use of the specialist equipment and range of IT facilities.
Garment Store
The Garment Store is situated on the 12th floor. Design and Technology MA and BA students at LCF can access a variety of materials, trimmings and fixings, and all LCF students can access excess materials daily. The Garment Store advises on different types of fabrics, interlinings, and technical support, and acts as an initial point of contact for industries that offer fabrics and trimmings donations.
Media Store
The Media Store is based on the 7th floor. It is an equipment loan store for lens based and media related equipment. Technical staff are available to support students with studio spaces and technical equipment enquiries.
Maker's Square
Maker’s Square is where you can catch some of our students working in the open access spots right outside the Digital Learning Lab and the Fashion Innovation Agency’s base. Expect to see explorations of all things fashion tech, AI, metaverse and VR.
Digital Learning Lab
The Digital Learning Lab is open to all students at LCF and provides access to a wide range of technologies including 3D Printing, 3D Scanning and Photogrammetry, Digital Fashion and 3D Garment Visualisation, Motion Capture, Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Wearable Technology and Physical Computing, 3D Sculpting and Interactive Development and Design.
Re-Use Units
Re-use units have been introduced across UAL to tackle waste and student cost of living by reusing materials. Designed purpose-made and built in London, students can drop off unwanted or excess materials in the units for fellow students to make use of, while picking up something for themselves. Four different types of units are available, with specific materials to be deposited in each type.
IT spaces
East Bank IT spaces encompass a broad spectrum of creative audio-visual, content production and digital technology resources. Our goal is to innovate and improve the technological literacy and fluency of students and staff at the LCF.
