I am the Senior Lecturer in Biology and Living Systems on the MA Biodesign course at Central Saint Martins. I am an interdisciplinary researcher, educator, scientist and creator. As a Bioengineer, Chemist, and Biodesigner, I am interested in how we can utilise the wonders of the living world to regain ecological, human health and planetary equilibrium. I am passionate about improving our understanding of health and environmental issues. My objective is to gather and share knowledge, then translate into ethical and ecological innovative solutions.
I hold a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Bristol and a PhD in Bioengineering from the London Centre of Nanotechnology, University College London. During this time, I demonstrated the superb potential of diamond as a material for neurological implants. I am a Fellow of the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science, and I spent two years as a Postdoctoral Fellow within the Mechanics and Materials Unit at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST), Japan where developed technology to 3D print diamond for the first time.
