Interview

Why did you choose to study your course and why CSM?

I chose CSM among other institutions because it offered something radically different. MA Regenerative Design is quite unique since it offers a holistic approach to the way we should design. I was drawn to it instantly and also thought that having an institution like CSM behind it would be interesting because it uses quite a unique approach and methodology. Also, the fact that it was online was a plus for me, since I could not move overseas.

What’s the most interesting project you’ve worked on so far? What made it so interesting to work on?

I've really enjoyed all the projects we've been working on — they have all contributed to my learning in so many different ways. Perhaps our recent collaboration with Hiblatech, a start-up company in the field of natural textiles, was the most interesting. I think working together in this collaboration pushed me to use all that I have learned and put it into practice, moving from theory to practice — and that has been quite pivotal for me.

What important piece of advice would you give to students thinking of studying this course?

I would advise students to remain very open. The field of Regenerative Design is very wide, and there are many ways to understand and practise it. It is very important to experiment with practice and with thoughts, and to share as much as possible with your peers.

What has been the highlight of your CSM experience so far?

A highlight for me has been being in touch with such a vast network of professionals and practitioners. I feel very lucky to have listened to people I respect immensely and to have had the opportunity to talk to them. I personally like the teaching team and really appreciate the time and almost personal involvement they put into our learning.

What are your career aspirations? Where would you like to be in five years' time?

I would love for my project to move forward and take shape.

What is the most important thing you've learnt on the course so far?

Only one? I would say that I have completely changed my point of view of the world, and that has professional but also personal implications. I would say I have grown a lot and now have a more critical approach to how I do and what I do.
