Biography

Biodesigner from Central Saint Martins and Industrial Design Engineer from the University of A Coruña, Paula established her career at the intersection of design, ecology, and culture in 2020. Her work explores the regenerative potential of local materials and artisanal techniques, with a focus on the conceptualisation and communication of projects inspired by the surrounding landscape.

Her project Co-Obradoiro Galego has been widely exhibited, including at Milan Design Week (2021, 2023), London Design Week (2021), the Barcelona Design Museum (2022), exhibitions for the Material Driven Innovation Award in Kyoto and Nagoya (2022), Galicia Design Week (2022), andthe Centre Cultural La Nau in Valencia (2023).

Connected to academia since 2021, she collaborates as a Visiting Practitioner in the MA Biodesign programme at Central St. Martins. She has spoken at various events, including the Design with the Living conference at the Design Museum in London, What Would the Earth Have Us Do? at the London College of Fashion, European Days of Craft, and the FOSxFashion Revolution Week 2022 discussion with Manto. In 2024, she led a series of workshops for Zara Home titled Exploring the Co-Obradoiro Galego Project: Biodesign and Basketry.

Her work has been recognised with a Bronze Medal at ADI 2022, finalist placements at the Material Driven Innovation Awards 2022 in Japan, and at the Mullen Lowe Group 2021 (London) and Mills Innovations Awards.

She is currently based in London, leading the Biodesign discipline at FKA Haeckels, developing proposals that integrate storytelling, sustainability, and innovation. At the same time, she continues her research on the cultural and environmental richness of her native Galicia, collaborating closely with local basketmakers.
