I am a user experience design leader with a background in Graphic Design and Design Education. At Central Saint Martins I am an Associate Lecturer on BA Graphic Communication Design. Through my connected fields of practice I have tried to find ways to harness technologies for the benefit of the people and societies that use them.
I have spent the past two decades leading digital teams across various sectors, commercial, non-profit, and public service. My industry experience includes leading the design of News digital services for global audiences in multiple languages at the BBC World Service and BBC News. I also developed a knowledge base for human-centred design in spatial and immersive contexts within the BBC's public service mission. In the commercial sector, I directed the design of a digital marketplace for art and artists. I currently work at Macmillan Cancer Support, helping people living with cancer.
In the context of academic design education, I apply my specialism of user experience and design principles to help students develop a mindset for creating new artefacts or products, whether digital or non-digital. Everything is founded on user research. The emphasis is on learning through experimentation, and translating ideas into delightful and inclusive designs.
