The Big Screen

Three students stand happily in front of a large display screen

Guidance for students

If you’d like to show your work on the screen, please approach your Course Leader. They will discuss your proposal with you and then submit the necessary details either via an online form or directly to the Coordinator.

Please note the following

  • We will need at least 10 working days to process any submission prior to display.
  • Your work will need to abide by UAL’s content standards guidelines (see section 3 on that page).
  • We’re unable to provide sound for any work displayed unless by special arrangement. Because of this, talking heads e.g. interviews are unlikely to be considered suitable for screening.
  • You will need to provide credit/s for the work, e.g. title of work, artist name, course, graduating year.
  • We will promote a schedule of work via the CSM Weekly newsletter and other channels, if appropriate.
  • We will do our best, but can’t guarantee to meet your scheduling request.
  • We may consider including your work on CSMplayer, the College’s web page sharing lectures and student work. We will contact you about this and request your permission before doing so.

Technical requirements

  • The screen dimensions are 1920x1080px, the aspect ratio is 16x9.
  • We cannot support 4K exports.
  • Please submit your video in .mp4 format; H264 or H265 codec; the maximum file size is 2GB and should be sent to the Coordinator using OneDrive/Sharepoint.

Guidance for staff

Please visit the Big Screen submission process page on Canvas for guidance on displaying work on the Big Screen. At the bottom of the page there’s a link to the online form to provide relevant details and upload the video file.
