We are committed to connecting academia with the industry through the running of symposiums, conferences, roundtables and panel discussions. We recognise that there is a need for education and industry to adapt so that they are best equipped to meet the changing demands of the fashion and beauty industry. Our events encourage knowledge sharing and networking with discussions centred around Phygital Fashion and Immersive Technologies (PFIT), Responsible and Accessible Fashion (RAF), Beauty, Behaviours, Product and People (BBPP) and Fashion Artificial Intelligence (FAIREE).

AI in Fashion Symposium

A day of panel discussions, guest speakers and workshops that addressed changes in the fashion industry brought on by AI. Fashion retailers, suppliers, academics and tech companies shared their knowledge and experiences of using AI in fashion.  At Fashion Business School we recognise that there is a need for education and industry to adapt so that they are best equipped to meet the demands, whilst benefiting from the opportunities that AI technology presents.

Coinciding with London Tech Week, AI in Fashion Symposium explored the latest industry trends and developments across all facets of tech and AI, while also looking to the future to uncover and consider the development and possibilities of AI in the future.

Common Threads

Common Threads was a ‘growing’ exhibition and communal space for students, staff and our partners to congregate, collaborate and exchange ideas through the desire to learn about circularity, upcycling and zero waste design; whilst also using ‘making’ as a tool for mental wellness.

A showcase in collaboration with our industry partners: ReFAB Studio; Scrap Queen ; UCL; Haav and Fibre Lab that explored the relationship between care, fashion, objects and wellbeing.  The aim of the 10-day event was to challenge traditional narratives within the fashion industry by highlighting innovative approaches that prioritise care for both people, the things we surround ourselves with and the planet.  Exploring the evolution of care within the fashion industry, from its roots in craftsmanship to modern sustainability practices we were encouraged to consider fashion as a culture of cooperation, healing and collective action.

The Common Threads showcase included panel discussions, talks and workshops focused on sustainable fashion practices, upcycling, and inclusive design, attended by industry professionals, students, academics and members of the public. It was a ‘growing’ exhibition and community space for all to congregate, collaborate and exchange ideas through the desire to learn about circularity, upcycling and zero waste design; whilst also using ‘making’ as a tool for mental wellness.  As visitors designed and completed pieces from the upcycled materials, they hung them on the walls, adding to the exhibit.  As nicely summed up by Stacia Bedford, Course leader of MA in Fashion Entrepreneurship and Innovation “the Common Threads exhibition challenges us to consider fashion as a culture of cooperation, healing and collective action”.
