The School of Media and Communication (SMC) delivers a range of world-leading undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the areas of Fashion Media, Communication and Design for Performance. These facilities are available to SMC students based on specialist discipline.
LCF has six film and photography studios available on the 7th floor at East Bank, equipped with professional lighting and accessories.
The Media Lab offers a wide range of printing and finishing resources, including darkroom processing and printing, scanning, book binding, mounting and digital print.
Based on the 7th floor, the Media Store offers a range of analogue and digital production equipment for student loan. Technical teams are available to advise and assist students with their enquiries.
Situated within the Media Lab, the darkrooms provide all students with access to Black & White and Colour processing and printing facilities.
Adjacent to the Media Store and Lab, the Edit Suites are available to all students for production and post production of moving image and audio.
Next to the production studios, the Styling and Prop Store provides a diverse collection of garments and accessories, as well as styling resources such as steamers, rails and sewing machines, available to all LCF SMC students.
The Costume Studios are located on the 8th floor at East Bank. They are specialist sample rooms with a combination of pattern cutting tables and sewing machines for the design, construction, fitting and finishing of costume and garment making. Equipment in these rooms include over lockers, industrial sewing machines, buttonhole machine, steel cutters, irons, domestic sewing machine, dress stands, fitting zones and heat presses.
The Fabrication and Prosthetics studios can be found on the 8th floor at East Bank. These are fabrication, sculpting and finishing studios for designing, pattern cutting, sewing, sculpting, painting and finishing 3D artefacts, puppets, props, and prosthetics.
Hair and Make-up studios can be found on the 7th floor at East Bank. These studios are for design, testing, making and applying of prosthetics makeup, wigs and hair craft. The rooms have a pop-up photographic area to capture work, a sculpting studio for prosthetics design, sculpting turn tables, and plastic studios.
