Ten students from King's College, Hong Kong joined us for a two day customised course in Building Robots with the BBC Micro:bit.
The participants learnt how to build their own remote-controlled wheeled robot using the BBC Micro:bit micro-controller. The course covered programming and looked at how computers can be used to control machinery. During this process they considered physical design, controlling electronics and programming robotic behaviours.
Topics Covered included:
- The anatomy of a Robot
- Working with the micro:bit
- Using Python
- Working with controller boards
- Coding
- Adding sensors
The course ended with a competition, whereby students competed against each other's robots, manoeuvring them in a game of football.
Students from the course told us:
