Join Alessandra Genualdo in conversation as she conveys her personal experience in translating inspiring imagery to illustration. Alessandra will explore how to find inspiration around you and investigate your sources of inspiration, whether in art, music, current trends or elsewhere. Along with how to define your aesthetic, Alessandra will share her personal inspiration sources and how they have helped her define her signature style.
Alessandra is an Italian illustrator and painter based in East London, where she works from her studio in Hackney Wick. She graduated with an MA in illustration from the Camberwell College of Arts, and has been working as a freelance illustrator and painter since.
Alessandra's work is primarily realised in gouache and coloured pencil on paper, using the female figure as her main source of inspiration, which is incessantly analysed in the form of portrait. Her constant exploration of women in a space identifiable as a home/indoor space, is also a visual representation of how women affected by mental health problems shape the space around them and interact with it, from an autobiographical perspective, but aimed to tap into other women's experience and background. Her client list ranges from magazines to fashion brands and art galleries. Alessandra’s work has been exhibited in the UK, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Poland, China and South Korea and Japan.
