Biography

Conchita Currie is an International Academic and Lecturer working in International Recruitment for London College of Fashion and UAL overseas.

In her academic career she has been in this role as International Recruitment Coordinator for 8 years and previously had worked as Design Lecturer for the BA Fashion Design Technology Courses at LCF for 9 years. She taught on the FDT Womenswear and has also taught on the Fashion Design and Development and Pattern Cutting courses.

In addition to her recruitment role Conchita currently guides, teaches and advises students on LCF Level 3 and 4 preparation courses about pathway choices and undergraduate courses at LCF.

Before joining LCF Conchita originally trained in Fashion Design and has worked extensively in the Fashion Industry in the UK and abroad. After having her own fashion company, she went on to work for Womenswear and Menswear companies as a designer, also working in production, pattern cutting and manufacturing. Her skill set has allowed her to work in the field of Costume for Film, Theatre and TV.

After completing a BA in Fine Art in 2004 Conchita has developed a Fine Art painting practice that she pursues in her spare time exhibiting in various groups shows.

Conchita has worked as design consultant for Kings College London, designing and developing an innovative range of therapeutic garments for the NHS in the UK. In 2013 gaining The Guardian University Awards for Outstanding Research Impact and The Research Project of the year for Smith & Nephew and Kings College London.
