Côtes du Rhône wines wanted to create an immersive and interactive experience to showcase the best of their wines. They approached London College of Communication to collaborate with our students to create a pop-up wine bar exhibition that stood out from the rest of the pop-up bars in London.
The students from BA (Hons) Interaction Design Arts worked on this brief with the aim to create an experience that celebrates how wine affects all the senses. Under the guidance of Course Leader, Joel Karamath, and tutor, Tobias Revell, they developed 10 installations for the exhibition that showcased the colour, smell, touch and taste of Côtes du Rhône wines in innovative ways.
The Rhône Touch was hosted at Central Saint Martins’ Platform Bar for 10 days where visitors could engage with the varied sensory experiences developed by LCC students including a ‘cork popping piano’ played by Daichi Yamamoto, the aroma Chair du Rhône inspired by the relationship between the sense of smell and taste, and an interactive grape stomping installation.
There was also a wine and food matching experience at a pop-up restaurant headed by Adam Rawson, Chef of the Year at the 2015 Young British Foodies Award. The exhibition was covered by many digital publications including Campaign UK.
